St. Matthew's is the white church on the hill above the village of Kunkletown. For over two hundred years we have been sharing the good news of Christ and inviting people to journey with our church family as we find our place in the Kingdom of God. Please Pray...
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Begin with thanksgiving and praise.
Psalm 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
Spend a few moments praising God for who He is and what He has done. Praise Him for His character, His love, His mercy, and His grace. Thank Him for all the blessings He provides every day.
Perhaps you may want to begin listening to some worship songs or hymns.
Prayer Targets.
Elected Officials - 1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
New President - pray that God will grant a peaceful and safe transition/ for guidance and wisdom
State and Local officials - pray for Divine guidance/ pray for discernment and wisdom. Pray our officials will seek wise counsel and seek the Lord.
Unity - Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
Pray for Unity in our nation. Ask God to break down dividing walls. Pray for unity in the Church: Unity during this transition, Unity in changes that need to be made, Unity in assimilating in the New EC denomination.
More Faith and Less Fear - Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Pray for faith to rise up in God’s people. Pray that the people of St Matthews ECC will be people of faith, that we will not worry about the future but trust God with our future.
Victims of Disasters
Pray for the victims of the California fires as well as those who are still
dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and Tennessee.
School Systems
Let us pray that God will protect our youth. Let’s pray that those who are Christian teachers will have a voice. Pray that the Lord will watch over the school and impact them with His presence and His glory. Pray for protection and also wisdom for administrators.
Mental Illness - 1 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Pray that God will touch those affected by mental illness and that He will bring them healing. Pray that each person will be able to take control of their thoughts and bring them to a place the lines up with God’s Word. Pray for miracles and deliverance from the attacks of the evil one.
Transition Team and the transition process
Pray that the team will have much wisdom and discernment as they plan ways to help St Matthews become more healthy as a church. Pray for wisdom as the team looks more closely at ways to increase passionate spirituality in the church.
Church Council
Pray for unity, wisdom, and discernment as the Council begins this new year of navigating the new Evangelical Congregational Church structure. Pray for God’s vision and His will to be done in planning and preparation for this year.
Lost Souls - 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will move in Kunkletown and the surrounding communities to draw people to God through Jesus Christ. Pray that obstacles would be removed that keep people from coming to Jesus. Pray to the Lord of the Harvest for more workers in the Harvest. Pray that God will give St Matthews in Kunkletown strategies to reach more people for Christ.
New Pastor
Pray that God will bring the right pastor to lead St Matthews Church. Pray that God would begin to speak to this person and that God will call this person to this assignment. Pray that God will confirm that call by the testimony of other godly persons. Pray for wisdom for the stationing pastor in the EC denomination so that they will hear God’s voice leading them to the right candidate.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, old things have become new.
